Plot 2 - Jalon
We have just tested the soil pH, first using a simple method of mixing the soil with vinegar (If the mixture bubbles it shows that the soil is alkaline) then using an electronic pH meter and the tests have come back showing the soil to have a value of between 7.8pH and 8.2pH (the electronic pH meter can be up to 5% out) so the soil has been packaged and has been posted to the UK to enable us to get the exact pH reading and a soil analysis.
At well over 100,000m2 (250 acres) we believe our second site will be one of the largest farms in Europe to be planted with tree saplings which have been inoculated with the spores of the White Bianchetto/Borchii truffle. The land is on two levels, is flat and has a tarmac entrance to both sides enabling good access for farm machinery and although we have not exchanged contracts yet the present owners are allowing us to prepare the land for tree planting.
