Our Mission
After an extensive investigation into the viability of commercially farming truffles in Spain, Truffle-Invest was formed in January 2016 with the aim of purchasing 100,000m2+ (250 acres+) in Benissa and the Jalon Valley (which is also famous for its vineyards and orange groves) and 15 minutes’ drive from the coastal towns of Javea, Moraira and Calpe.
We have taken advice from some of the world’s top experts in this field and have decided to start cultivating the Bianchetto or Borchii truffle (Tuber borchii ) and potential investors will have the chance to buy into this new and thriving industry by way of a share offer.
We have already purchased 10,400m2 of prime land and are in the process of buying another plot of 100,000m2+ in the same area with the aim of planting tree saplings that have, under controlled conditions been inoculated with the spores of the Bianchetto/Borchii or Whitish truffle (Tuber Borchii).
The soil on the first plot has already been tested for its PH value and has been found to be perfect for growing the Bianchetto/Borchii truffle without any need for any additional liming. On the second plot we have just tested the soil pH, first using a simple method of mixing the soil with vinegar (If the mixture bubbles it shows that the soil is alkaline) then using an electronic pH meter and the tests have come back showing the soil to have a value of between 7.8pH and 8.2pH (the electronic pH meter can be up to 5% out) so the soil has been packaged and has been sent off for testing to enable us to get the exact pH reading and a thorough soil analysis.
At well over 100,000m2+ (250 acres+) we believe our second site will be one of the largest farms in Europe to be planted with tree saplings which have been inoculated with the spores of the Bianchetto/Borchii truffle. The land is on two levels, is flat and the soil a rich reddish colour. It has a tarmac entrance to both sides enabling good access for farm machinery and although we have not exchanged contracts yet the present owners are allowing us to prepare the land for tree planting.
We plan on planting the first phase of the project on the smaller plot late in 2016 and on the second larger plot in 2017.
